Flower pots in the garden

Happy CANADA DAY!!! I am very proud to be Canadian, very thankful to live in this great country! A part of me will always be Dutch, but Canada is our home now.

A new challenge over at CRAFT A SCENE, our theme this month is "in the garden" and HEARTFELT CREATIONS is our sponsor, come on over and play with us! To be honest, I don't like to garden, thankfully my dh does, but I love spending time in the garden. This year we made our deck bigger and we have lots of pots with flowers, I used this as my inspiration.

For this card I used some Penny Black stamps, from the set In the garden and stamped some flower pots, coloured them with Spectrum Noir markers and Prismacolour pencils. I also popped up some little flowers. The sky is sponged on with Tim Holtz in, tumbled glass. I added some grass from Rubbernecker, sentiment is from Hero Arts. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.

After I coloured the image, I got out my stickles...I have used a lot of different colours and if I didn't have the matching colour, I used diamond, will go with any colour.

High hopes baby card

CLICK ON THE CARD FOR A BETTER LOOK!

There are no baby cards in my box so I decided that I need a couple of those, I don't have a lot of High Hopes stamps but this one is a favourite. I pulled out my TOMBO'S and watercoloured, hadn't done that in ages and it felt good to sit and play. After the colouring was done, I cut out the image and put it on the Cheery Lynn doily and put stickles on. Some score lines, a bow, sentiment from SU and bling, to finish the card off.

Hope you like it, have a great day and thanks for stopping by, Anja

Relax, this is your day!

Happy Sunday! Hope you get to relax this day! I love Sundays, we go to church and usually do something fun or relaxing, visit with friends and today we have a good, old church picnic.

My card today is for CRAFT A SCENE, my second card with a beach scene, hope you will join us in the fun too! I have used Rubbernecker stamps, they are our sponsor this month by the way, from the set by Kittie , cause a scene. Lots of images to make a beach scene. My stampscapes came in handy too, for the clouds with sun, 107 E, and cloud bits, 292 C, and the water stamp, SC 231.

A variety of Tim Holtz inks (squeezed lemonade, faded jeans, scattered straw) were used and some SU colours, baja breeze and artichoke. Borderpunch from EK, a white gelpen to highlight the water, twine, sentiment from Heartfelt creations (western sentiments). The birds are from Clear Dollar stamps. Don't forget to check out the work from the other DT members!

The challenge is to use a butterfly and for the second one flowers and a butterfly, my butterfly is done with a Joycraft die and popped up, I have added some stickles to the flower (from Inkadinkadoo) but kept the card clean and simple, the sentiment is from Verve. Thanks for looking and have a great day, Anja

Footprints in the sand.....

This month the challenge over at CRAFT A SCENE is beach scenes. I love going to the beach and enjoy the sun, the lake, swimming and some kayaking, especially when there are waves. We live about half an hour from the lake and we love it. Can you imagine sitting in that chair and looking at the waves? The poem is one of my favourites, I was so happy that I found a stamp, from Inkadinkadoo, with a part of the poem on it. This month our sponsor is RUBBERNECKER, and I happen to have some of their stamps. For this card I made a background using Tim Holtz distress inks, for the sky I used tumbled glass and then I stamped clouds from Stampscapes on it with the same ink. The water is done with broken china and faded jeans. The sanddunes (rubbernecker) and sand are done with antique linen. The green stuff is from Rubbernecker, cause a scene, and the seagulls from Stampscapes. The verse is stamped and embossed on acetate. The chair, (don't know who made it, it is a single stamp I had forever) is stamped and embossed on kraft paper, then cut out and popped up. Some brads and score lines to finish it off.

One more....second post today C4C138

I just had to make one more......and then I found out about this challenge, you can look it up HERE. My friend Andrea is on their design team. One layer and embellishments are allowed....this fits right in, I think. I made a mask with my oval nestabilities and sponged Tim Holtz distress inks on, I have used the following colours:

-tumbled glass, faded jeans, squeezed lemon, peeled paint, dried marigold.

Then I stamped the branches in Versafine black, they are from the set delicate branches, made by Inkadinkadoo, sentiment from Just Rite, fancy tags. The next step is spraying it with Tim Holtz gold glimmermist (with the mask still in place) The birds are from a Mc Gill punch, bling and ribbon from my stash. Some score lines were added with the scor pal.

This is an easy way to make a card, get out your inks and try it too! Thanks, Anja

Under the birch tree......

Another masculine card! You can read about it HERE. Have a great day, Anja

A different scene

While I was working and thinking about my cards for Craft a Scene this month ( the challenge is Spring flowers) I browsed and played and tried and in the end I had 2 card with Stampscapes and flowersoft, well, my DH said that wasn't good enough, they were too much alike, LOL. He even helped me and I listened....so I started to try and then came up with this, I had a "real"card, from the store and it looked somewhat like this...so no stamping at all, but a scene I made, with flowers from punch a bunch, Martha Stewart butterfly, clouds from a MFT die, the rest is free handed .

So let me know what you think and please be honest, it is different for sure. Come and play with us and check out the work of the other design team members HERE.

So simple

I have seen this technique done on several blogs and I have wanted to try it myself....it is so simple! Mask off an area, use some Tim Holtz distress inks, stamp, remove the mask and add a sentiment and a bird in those cards. Sentiments from Hero arts, tree branch is from Inkadinkadoo, bird is a Mc Gill punch, some score lines were added because I just had to add something, lol! I making a couple more and then I can give it away as a set, that's my plan, let's hope I get to finish it. Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Silhouette card for Craft a Scene!

Here is my second card for the challenge over at Craft a Scene. This month the theme is silhouettes. For my card, I combined the moon with a silhouette, see, all the things I have learned, lol! I started with punching out a circle for the moon, put it on a piece of white cardstock with removable tape and got out my Tim Holtz's distress inks. Here is a list of the colours I used:

antique linen, old paper, pumice stone, brushed corderoy, frayed burlap, vintage photo and walnut stain

Then, I sprayed it with water, wiped it with paper towel and added some more walnut stain, sprayed and wiped again , added some more antique linen.

I stamped the image, Penny Black wintersky, with black Versafine, I then sprayed it all with an acrylic sealer. The black background is a die from Spellbinders, Lace Doily motifs, sentiment from Just Rite. Some scored lines to finish it off.

Come and play with us, there is a prize to win! Thanks for looking, Anja

Today I am sharing my second card for the Craft a Scene design team. You can find the blog here. The challenge this month is moon light, you can join us too and have a chance to win a prize! For the moon I took a scrap of paper and cut out a 1 1/4 inch circle and used it as a mask , I inked it up with SU so saffron. Then I covered the moon up and started sponging on my other colours: SU bashful blue, TH tumbled glass, TH broken china, TH faded jeans, TH weathered wook, TH black soot, TH spiced marmelade. The sentiment is from Just Rite, Just because set.

Black and barely banana cardstock, SU label punches, Dots embossing folder, some twine out of my stash and liquid pearls to finish it off.

Moon light card

Some times it takes a lot of things to make a card............the challenge this month at Craft a Scene is moonlight.......and boy oh boy did I struggle with this one. My wastebasket is over flowing and my fingers have all kinds of distress inks on them. To be honest, I don't think I have ever made a card with the shining moon in it, I have drooled over other peoples creations.
So I searched and checked out blogs and galleries.....did some shopping....and then I came across this stamp from Stampendous, and I knew I had to buy it. The sample I saw at the store was done without a moon, and with Tim Holtz inkers, and those I don't have so.....I worked with what I do have , and believe me I am not short of anything, LOL. So I played with different colours distress inks and sponges, here is a list of the colours that made it for my final project:

spiced marmelade, tumbled glass, peeled paint oh and I started with SU so saffron.

I tried hard to bring in some light and darker colour tones and to show the moon light shining in the water. Glitter came out too but I quickly discovered that that was not gonna work for me. After I was happy with the image, I cut it out, matted it on a scalloped rectangle, used a Crafts Concepts embossing folder, fiskars border punch, some twine, black Viva pearls and a sentiment from Stampendous. So that is all about this card, a little bit of me and a whole lot of another unknown, talented crafter. My next card will be all me, I promise, but sometimes we all need a little help.

Hop on over to the blog and I hope you will be able to join us this month, looking forward to see all your creations!!

Have a great day, Anja
