Moonlight sympathy

Today I am sharing my second card for the Craft a Scene design team. You can find the blog here. The challenge this month is moon light, you can join us too and have a chance to win a prize! After I had trouble with the first card, I got into the moon mode...... For this card I inked up my Hero arts stamp and stamped it on my background. The background is done with mostly Tim Holtz distress inks and a few SU inks, I will list them for you. For the moon I took a scrap of paper and cut out a 1 1/4 inch circle and used it as a mask , I inked it up with SU so saffron. Then I covered the moon up and started sponging on my other colours: SU bashful blue, TH tumbled glass, TH broken china, TH faded jeans, TH weathered wook, TH black soot, TH spiced marmelade. The sentiment is from Just Rite, Just because set.

Black and barely banana cardstock, SU label punches, Dots embossing folder, some twine out of my stash and liquid pearls to finish it off.

Check out the blogs of the design team members! Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Some new goodies....

,

Last week a friend and I went shopping in the States, a fun day, and we both really behaved, lol! The lady at the border thought so too, so life is good. I have a basket in my craft room where I put the new things in, I wanna use them before I put them away, you never know what will happen then....

One of the things I got is the Cricut cardtridge Elegant edges, soooooo many possibilities. The sentiment is from Stampabilities and the labels cut with the Cricut, Darice embossing folder, Marianne Dies for the flower and the bird, MS punch and Viva pearls. Ribbon from my stash.

Hope you like it, have a great day, Anja

Sympathy card

It seems like our internet is up an running...grr, I don't know much about computers but I do know how much they can frustrate you!

On the bright side, you have more time in the day if you don't go on.....so I made a few cards.

I needed another sympathy card, going through my stuff...used a Marianne Die for the frame, MS borderpunch, Nestabilities and stamps from Clear Dollar stamps, Hero and Cornish Heritage. Black Viva pearls drops to finish it off. Oh and the butterfly is a Joy craft die.

Just for you

Finally I get a chance to post a card, keep your fingers crossed, the internet is been out most of the weekend, the wireless still doesn't work, not sure what is going on.

This card is done with Stampabilities stamps , MS border, Nesties, Fiskars border punch and the labels have been cut with the Cricut, Elegant edges. I use my Cricut mostly for scrapbooking, that's a shame with so many possibilities.....

The good thing is, when the computer is not working, you get a lot more time to play, LOL!

Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Moon light card

Some times it takes a lot of things to make a card............the challenge this month at Craft a Scene is moonlight.......and boy oh boy did I struggle with this one. My wastebasket is over flowing and my fingers have all kinds of distress inks on them. To be honest, I don't think I have ever made a card with the shining moon in it, I have drooled over other peoples creations.
So I searched and checked out blogs and galleries.....did some shopping....and then I came across this stamp from Stampendous, and I knew I had to buy it. The sample I saw at the store was done without a moon, and with Tim Holtz inkers, and those I don't have so.....I worked with what I do have , and believe me I am not short of anything, LOL. So I played with different colours distress inks and sponges, here is a list of the colours that made it for my final project:

spiced marmelade, tumbled glass, peeled paint oh and I started with SU so saffron.

I tried hard to bring in some light and darker colour tones and to show the moon light shining in the water. Glitter came out too but I quickly discovered that that was not gonna work for me. After I was happy with the image, I cut it out, matted it on a scalloped rectangle, used a Crafts Concepts embossing folder, fiskars border punch, some twine, black Viva pearls and a sentiment from Stampendous. So that is all about this card, a little bit of me and a whole lot of another unknown, talented crafter. My next card will be all me, I promise, but sometimes we all need a little help.

Hop on over to the blog and I hope you will be able to join us this month, looking forward to see all your creations!!

Have a great day, Anja

Winter scene card for Craft a Scene!

Here is my card today for the Craft a Scene challenge from this month, read about it on the blog here.

A lot of beautiful cards have been submitted already and there is still lots of time to play!

For this scene I created the sky with a cloud stamp from Impression Obsession, stamped with bashful blue. I made the tree line with stampscapes tree duo large and Rubbernecker trees from Cause a Scene. The birds and deer are Stampscapes. I sponged some blue on the bottom for snow and sprinkled some white fun flock and diamond dust on. Some pearls with a Viva pearl pen, border from MS, Spellbinders and sentiment from Clear Dollar stamps.

Looking forward to see your winter scene! Have a great day, Anja

I coloured this image a long time ago, got me a piece of leftover dp from a friend, sorry, don't know the company as it was a scrap. So I finally made it into a card.

No clue why I didn't do this before since it really wasn't that hard, LOL!

Let it snow!

Welcome to another challenge for Craft a Scene! This month we are asking you to create a winter scene.
Here in Ontario it is a funny winter, not too cold and not a lot of snow at all, I guess last year we got it all for this year too. It's okay with me, I do not particulary like the winter driving but I do love how everything looks so nice when there is snow, it covers up all the mud, lol!
So I had fun making a winter scene for this challenge, hope you get a chance to play.
Here is my recipe for this card:

I first stamped the main image (Heartfelt Creations snowy window scene) with white craft ink on a piece of kraft cardstock and then heat embossed it with opaque detail white embossing powder. It was cut out with a die from Spellbinders blossom tags and accents. I put Viva pearl ice white accents on the dots.
After that was dry, I took my glue pen and put some glue on the bottom and the trees and added some cotton ball white Fuzzy fun flock from Stampendous.

Then I put some dots with my gluepen around the image for snow and sprinkled some Diamond dust on.
The background is a piece of white cardstock, embossed with the Swiss dots embossing folder and on the top I used a snowflake punch from EK and also added some liquid pearls.
The strip on the bottom has a sentiment from Flourishes and the snowflakes are from Cheery Lynn.
I love this colour combo and am pretty happy how the card turned out.
Hope you like it too, thanks for stopping by and I hope to see your creations too! Anja

More sympathy

A friend asked me to make 8 sympathy cards....so that's why you see a lot of those around here.

For this one, I went into SU mode...a sentiment, some retired designer paper, nestabilities, MS border punch, a flower from Spellbinders and some Viva pearls. Nothing too complicated.

Thanks for stopping by, Anja

On your birthday scenery card

Another scenery card as I need another masculine birthday card. I am not so sure about the sky but I got good comments from my dh, who always tells me honestly what he thinks, I don't always agree but that is okay, right, LOL!
I stamped the pines and rocks Stampscapes 267 E, three times on glossy cardstock and added the rocks on the bottom,295 C. Then I got my stipple brushes and started with the sky.
Here are the colours I used: Tim Holtz (TH) spun sugar, Stampinup (SU) summer sun, TH dried marigold, SU baja breeze, TH black soot, maybe this is a bit too black?
Then I stamped some water with Stampscapes (SC) 231 C, with SU not quite navy and stippled some SU pacific point, SU not quite navy and SU basic grey on.
Every time I put on a colour, I will dry it with my heat gun for a couple of seconds, this way the colours don't mud together.
The stones have a bit of TH old paper, TH frayed burlap and SU chocolate chip.
I wasn't gonna colour the trees as it is getting dark, but I still thought it needed some, so I added a bit of SU handsome hunter.
At last I stamped the birds, SC 302 A and the reeds, SC 067 B.
I sprayed on some acrylic sealer from Americana, have had this forever.
Sentiment is from Just Rite. I matted the image on black, put it on a piece of kraft, ripped and inked the bottom, some scored lines and put it on a black base.
Sometimes after the scene is done, I don't know how to finish the card, feels like I do the same thing over and over, but then, I think, it doesn't need much any more, any thoughts, please let me know!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, Anja

Today I am sharing a baby boy card with you, I am gonna enter it for a Dutch challenge, check it out HERE.
I have used a stamp from the set Baby first from SU, I am pretty sure it is retired now but I have always liked this set. Paper from DCWC and the sentiment is from Verve, label punches from SU, MS borderpunch, some ribbon, stickles and the Dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
And of course some ribbon and bling from my stash.
It is an easy card to make, and I am gonna look through my paper to make a girl one too, I am sure I can find some, LOL!

Love always!

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 23rd anniversary!!!
Twenty three years ago I married a Dutch dairy farmer and now 23 years later I am married to a Canadian chicken farmer/cashcropper with lama's and sheep and some horses! Never a dull moment!
I would do it again in a heart beat and I am hoping and praying for many more years together!
So, I made him this card, this summer he has build a cabin, smaller than the one in the picture but nice it is.
The stamps are from Rubbernecker from the Cause a Scene set (a set designed by KITTIE),
paper from DCWV Natural mat stack, birds from Stampscapes, sentiment from Hero Arts,
Nestabilities, SU punches and some bronze Viva pearl pen.
Thanks for looking, Anja

Birthday for the boys!

Snowing and blowing at my house like crazy, I am wondering if the boys will come home from school early....I better get my stamping done, LOL!
I am sharing with you a card for the boys, I always need those and my boys love to drive the 4 wheeler, dirt bike and all the fun stuff. This is a fairly simple card, stamps from Clear Dollar stamps , paper from Fancy Pants. I stamped the background with Distress old paper ink, using my clear block as a stamp, love that effect. Borderpunch from MS along the border, some ribbon and all done, see, I can be fast too!
Have a great day, thanks for stopping by, Anja

I am a Craft a Scene design team member!!

Olga
Sandy
Shaz
Anja
If you click on the names, it will bring you to their blog, check it out, lots of inspiration and talent! Have fun visiting them, I am excited about all the things we will be able to learn from each other.
So to celebrate I have another Stampscapes card to share with you.
I stamped the Cabin with fence, 144F, with some extra trees, tree duo large 086B, with versafine black ink on glossy paper. After it was dry, I took some stipple brushes and layered the colours on,stipple by stipple, making sure one colour was dry before adding the next one. Those brushes are so easy to use and will give you a great effect. After I was happy with the colours, I added the crooked limb, 097E, and the birds, 112A on the top and added the top part of 191A on the bottom. I have used a variety of inks, SU, Tim Holtz distress ink, Adirondeck inks, next time I will mark down which colours exactly.
I then finished my card with a flourish from MFT and some little leaves from a Punch a bunch punch, sentiment from Close to my Heart, on a die from MFT, and to finish it off I used a bronze Viva pearl pen to add some accents.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day, Anja

SU sympathy card

Since I was out of sympathy cards I made a couple, just so that I have one when you need it.
I like to keep those cards simple, this idea I got from Splitcoast and it is stamped with an old SU favourite, Heartfelt thanks. I coloured the stamp with markers, the sentiment is from Just Rite.
Some old gold cord, some gold Viva pearls and Nestabilities. And some scored lines, hard to see in the picture.
Let's hope the card stays in my box for a while, thanks for looking, Anja

Flowers for your birthday!

Now our Christmas break is officially over, kids are back in school, at college and at work.
The house is a mess, the fridge is empty, decorations put away.....
So I guess, there will be no stamping time today, I need to do groceries and some cleaning, but there is always tomorrow and while you clean a bathroom or 2 you can think up a new card!
There were a few unfinished cards on my desk, and now they are done so I can show them here.
I can't remember the name of the dp, sorry, flowers are from Crealies, sprayed with pearl mist and goosebumps, swirl from MFT, branches from MS, fiskars borderpunch, sentiment from Just Rite, die from Nellie Snellen. As a final touch some I added some bronze dots with a Viva pen.
Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Simple sympathy

Another sympathy card, made with some old retired SU paper. It's fun what you can find in your own paper drawer, lol! The colours are so off in the picture, it looks way better IRL.
The punches I used are from Martha Stewart, sentiment from Just Rite. A quick and easy card, good to have on hand for when you need it. With the scorpal I added some lines, love the look of that effect.

Masculine again.....

Can you tell that I am having a lot of fun with my Stampscapes? Sometimes they stay in the closet for a while but now they are out and I am using them, lol! Trying some different things, some work and some don't.
Since I need 2 masculine cards this week, they come in handy. This scene is done on white neenah cardstock and I sponged on some distress inks, stamped the image twice and added the geese. I popped up the man in the canoe and voila, done!
Sentiment is from Just Rite.
Off to do some cleaning today and hopefully some more stamping, thanks, Anja

An old favourite and a new one...

The snow storm is over and if I look out the window I see a beautiful, snow covered world and the sun is shining, not sure how cold it is now but it was minus 15 last night, later on I will bundle up and go for a walk.

I did get to stamp and I played with an old SU set, oh so lovely, and lovely it is. The flowers are coloured with Prisma's and then I added a layer of Viva clear glass. Sentiment from Just Rite.

The Spellbinders were a Christmas present, Fleur De Lis Rectangle, and I think it gives this card the elegant look I was hoping for.

Thanks for stopping by, Anja

Stampscaping

We are in the middle of a snowstorm, 40 cm of snow has already been dumped on us and it is still snowing though it is supposed to get better this afternoon.

So it is a perfect day to stamp! Out came the basket with stampscapes stamps to make a card for the challenge over HERE.

Make a scene is the theme and that's what I did. I stamped the main image, lakeside cove, 3 times on glossy cardstock with black Archival ink. With some make up sponges I started to apply colour by colour, distress inks, SU ink, Adirndack inks. You name it and it can be found in my craft room, LOL!

The trick I had learned a while back is that after applying each colour, you need to let that colour dry or heat set it before applying the next colour. This way, the colours don't"mud" together.

I believe I learned this from the Stampscapes website. I actually made 3 other scenes before I was happy with the result and knew what colours I wanted to use.

I would like to learn how to make the water more real, a little more dark blue, I guess, so I will try that on another project.

After I was happy with the colouring, I stamped the birds (Gulls 302A) , the branches (Crooked limb O97E), the reeds ()67B) and the guy in the canoe (159E), he almost got cut off, LOL!

After everything was stamped, I sprayed it with a seal and finished the card with a piece of yellow coloured cardstock, an ek borderpunch, some score lines, brads and a sentiment from Just Rite.

Let me know what you think and any tips you can give me!! I would love to hear from you, Anja

Stampscapes

Another card that turned out so much different than I had planned...I love the Stampscapes stamps but I also struggle with them especially when it comes to colouring. So I was happy to find a new blog this week that is gonna be all about those wonderful stamps, check it out HERE.
For this card I used my Prismacolour pencils and some gamsol and the blender pencil , added some accents with gel and sakure glitter pens and inked the image with antique linen distress ink. I also sprayed the image to seal it. What I like about using the prismacolour pencils is the variety of colours, lots to choose from, and that you can easily blend the colours even without using the gamsol.
The whole shadow/highlighting thing is something I always struggle with so I like to avoid that but that is not possible with those stamps. So I keep on trying...practice makes perfect, right?
I know I am far from that but it was fun to play and I am gonna visit this new site a lot and hope to learn from other talented people!!
Have a great day, Anja

Boy's birthday card

So I started working on this card with a plan in my head....don't know what happened to the plan but the outcome is completeley different, LOL!
I wanted to make a masculine card, it turned out to be a boy's birthday card. You don't wanna know how I struggled to finish it...
The dp is from my scrap bucket, the sentiment and birds from Clear Dollar stamps, the boat is a Marianne die and the clouds are made with an Impression obsession background. Borderpunch from EK and some Spellbinders, brads from my stash.
I guess I keep on trying, maybe I will get some stamp time today.
Thanks for looking, Anja

Sympathy card

Sad, but reality, I needed a sympathy card for a very young person.

I can only imagine what this family has to go through. I kept the card simple, the dies are from

Spellbinders blossoms, tags and accents, sentiment from Just Rite. Flower also from the set of

Spellbinders and a little punched flower in the middle, Cheery Lynn and MS for the branches.

Then I added some Viva pearl silver pen. The dp is from a pack from Action, the borders are done with a MS borderpunch.

Till next time, Anja

Playing with some new goodies!

I am blogging here in my pj's, with a coffee and a very quiet house! That's a nice change for now, lol!
Yesterday I had some time to play with some of my Christmas presents....some Nestabilities and MFT dies. I decided to use some different colours, so here we go. The background is embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder, the sentiment is from Just Rite, ribbon from my stash, Blossoms, tags and accents nestabilities ( what a nice versatile set), MFT flourish, Cheery Lynn olive branches and butterfly, MS butterfly, some bling from my stash and the flowers are made with various punches and sprayed with goosebumps.
Now, I am not so sure about the choices of colour but fun I had to make it, LOL!
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by, Anja

Just Rite anniversary card

It was good to sit at my craft table and just play....so relaxing. I pulled out my Just Rite stamps and made this card for an upcoming anniversary.
The rolled flowers are Marianne Dies and the leaves and greenery are also made with Marianne and Cheery Lynn dies. I spritzed the flowers with glimmermist iridescent gold. The dp is from DCWV, did I do that in the right order? The sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo. The border is made with a Martha Stewart punch.
This card needs to be send in a little box, good thing that I got some the other day, LOL!
The two little hearts are from my own collection, probably from Hobby Lobby or so.

More masculine, quick and easy

Happy Friday!

I love this time of the year, but there isn't much time left to craft so today I am sharing a quick and easy card with you!

As a big fan of embossing folders, I had to have the SIZZIX , birthday, congrats and thanks set. It embosses so nice and deep!

The dp is from Basic Grey, out of print. Diecuts from Spellbinders, Sprightly Sprockets.

After I cut out and inked the edges, I sprayed Goosebumps on them.

The pewter brads are out one of my drawers!!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by, Anja

Masculine birthday

There is not much going on in my craft room...lots of other things needed some attention.
This is a card I made 2 weeks ago, I needed a masculine card and was looking through my supplies, and my basket with Stampscapes caught my eye. I quickly found some dp from Basic Grey and came up with this card. Of course I had to use a MS borderpunch and Nestabilities, LOL!
Have a great day and thanks for looking! I am off to put some decorations up and to go to SGD for Therapy Thursday!!! Maybe I will see some of you there, take care, Anja

Smooch spritzed flowers

Tonight I sat down and I had to make some flowers! Couldn't help myself, LOL! Yesterday I spend the day at SGD for the 3rd anniversary, it was a lot of fun, so many ladies came out and it was good to see everybody! I also learned some new things about flowers from Judy, if you ever have a change to take her class, you end up like me, learning so much! I have a Judy drawer now, filled with things I never considered craft items, tooth picks, silicone gel, wax paper, LOL!

The card from today is made with some leftovers I had from a workshop, the sentiment is from

Stampendous, borderpunch Making Memories, CB embossing border, Basic Grey dp out of print, pearls from somewhere, rolled flower and some flower punches, green stuff from punches and a sizzix die.

I spritzed the flowers with Smooch spritz, ice rink, after I saw what Judy did, I had to have that colour too. It looks like I used a little too much on the bigger flower, but IRL it looks just fine, I guess the camera picked up the glimmer too much.

Have a great night and thanks for stopping by, Anja
